HOORAY FOR THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE!  It may not be the Fourth of July, but designers across America are putting a nationalistic spin on accessories and resort outfits, 2010, and the results are marvelous!  Shapes tend to be classic, invariably with an updated design sensibility.  Colors are American flag bright.     —Look for plenty of stripes, stars, graphic prints, big shoulders, and here and there, a pop of unexpected color to add to the red, white, and blue anthem.

ONE OF THE MOST delightful outfits we’ve seen in this venue is Jeffrey Monteiro’s USA-blue linen dress with pleated skirt and bright red skinny belt.  Topping it handsomely:  Tibi’s white linen blazer and Erickson Beamon’s plain but big gold chain necklace. The model here also wears a blue and gold striped bracelet and a big red cabochon ring.

YOU CAN GET THIS SAME RICH RESORT LOOK BY LATCHING ONTO GREAT-LOOKING ACCESSORIES LIKE THESE:

ANOTHER CUTE CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES’ look is Ashisk’s American flag shorts, with one side white stars on blue, and the other red and white stripes.  They’re worn over a blue swimsuit by Tomas Maier.  Giving the outfit a really finished look is a woven, medium width brown leather belt with metal buckle.

Some fun little “pops” of color accomplished by dynamite accessories include a bright blue enameled bangle bracelet, a blue stone choker, a little green clutch bag, funny white sandals, and gold chains galore.  This is Americana at its best!

                           Luxury Watch Sales Decline

Sales of moderate to inexpensive watches have generally been down, globally, but they are still weathering the recession quite well. The same can not be said for luxury class time pieces.  According to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, total watch exports fell 26.4 percent in the first half of the year, totaling about $5.7 billion at current exchange rates.  For just the month of June, exports fell 31.9 percent.

Wristwatches selling for more than $466 American, had the most severe decline in sales, while products running in the $200 range experienced the least decline.  A top Citigroup, Inc analyst says the Swiss watch trends will probably continue for another few months, adding, “But we believe the end of the year should be a catalyst for the products.”

YOU CAN GET A LUXURY WATCH LOOK AT A VERY MODERATE PRICE WITH THESE TIMEPIECES:

  • Round watch face for interchangeable bands in your choice of metallic face color.  Very customized look!

Accessories Financials: Hermes Hits High Note

Bravo for Hermes! The firm’s international headquarters reports a whopping 12 percent rise in sales for the second quarter, helped mostly by demand for its ever-popular iconic handbags.  Hermes credits “persistently strong” demand for its leather goods for pushing sales to their present rate, especially the popularity of its newest handbag model, the Lindy.  Hermes says it expects the up trend seen in the first half to continue through the full year.
